Birds Nest Cookies are a fun and easy Easter No Bake treats made with Butterscotch and Chocolate Chips, Chow Mein Noodles, and topped Candy Eggs.

    Birds Nest Cookies

Making Birds Nest Recipe is a holiday favorite and one I loved to get my boys to help me with when they were younger. It's perfect for little hands to help. With only 4 Ingredients, this simple recipe for Easter nests can be made in about 5 minutes.

Easy Treats for Easter rank high on my list. Not to mention, they are adorable, aren't they? So let me show you how I make them. So quick and easy.

Birds Nest Cookies with Speckled Egg M&M's

    Ingredients

Chips. Butterscotch and Chocolate Chips. Semi Sweet are preferred.

Chow Mein Noodles. Using Chow Mein Noodles really gives the look of a nest. You can substitute Rice Krispies or puff cereal.

Candy Eggs. Cadbury Mini Eggs, M&M Eggs, Jelly Beans, or Robins Eggs are great options

    How to make Birdie Nests

As with most No Bake Recipes, this one is also very simple. So let me share with you a couple of ways that I enjoy making them.

In a large bowl combine Butterscotch and Chocolate chips. Melt chips in the Microwave or using the Instant Pot electric pressure cooker. (see below)

Stir Chow Mein Noodles into melted chocolate mixture until fully coated making sure to lift the excess chocolate from the bottom of the bowl. You can find bags of Chow Mein Noodles in your local grocery store in the Asian section.

Using large spoons place spoonfuls on parchment lined baking sheet. Or use a Silicone Liner. It's easy to peel the cooled cookies off silicone liner later.

Shape cookies to look like a nest and create an indentation in the center for the eggs. Place 3 candy eggs inside of nest and allow cookies to cool.

How to Melt Chocolate in Microwave

Mix Butterscotch and Chocolate chips together in a large glass bowl and microwave on high for 30 seconds. Then stir chips and microwave for another 30 seconds. Remove and stir. If chips need more time to melt, place back in microwave for 15 seconds and stir, repeating until chocolate is melted.

How to Melt Chocolate using an Instant Pot

In a large glass bowl combine Butterscotch and Chocolate Chips and mix together. Add 2-3 cups of water into the Instant Pot Liner and turn to Saute. The water will heat up creating steam.

Place bowl on top of Instant Pot. Bowl needs to be larger that the liner of the Instant Pot so it won't fall down inside. Bowl should rest on top creating a double boiler.

As the water heats up, the glass bowl will get warm and melt the chocolate. Stir as it melts to combine. Remove glass bowl when chocolate is melted making sure not to get any water in the chocolate.

How to Store No Bake Cookies

Birds Nest Cookies are stored in a sealed container. Cookies can be stacked but place foil or parchment paper between cookies. Cookies should be stored in a cool place.

    Pro Tips

Birds Nest Cookies makes 18-24 Cookies depending on size of nests you make

Line baking sheet with Silicone Line or Parchment Paper. This is very helpful tip and makes lifting cookies easy off baking sheet.

Allow cookies to cool completely, about 30 minutes in a cool place.

Birds Nest Cookies aka Dragons Nest Cookies Harry Potter

Fun Creative Idea - Harry Potter Themed Food

Recently my son held a Harry Potter Movie Marathon with his friends. One of the many treats were Dragons Nest Cookies. The kids went crazy over them because they were Dragons Eggs! Such a cute way to take a traditional cookie recipe and change it up.

The Easter M&M's Chocolate Eggs are bright colored and speckled making them truly think a dragon could be inside.

Harry Potter Food Ideas are endless. My son also made Butterbeer Cookies with White Chocolate Chips which were a big hit too. Needless to say the Harry Potter Fans at his party had a great time. It was fun!

    Keeping it Simple

Easter is full of fancy meals, egg hunts, treats, and activities. I'm exhausted celebrating so I've learned to keep things simple where possible. Making Birds Nest cookies is part of that because I can make them a day ahead and they don't take much time. Which leaves me free to enjoy the activities and family around me.

Aside from all the fun traditions, I do love to slow it down and remember the reason for the celebration. I hope you enjoy your Easter Holiday and spend it with those you love.

As a huge Harry Potter Fan, I loved that you re-themed these cookies for a fun Movie Night. Those speckled eggs are perfect for a Dragon Nest Cookie as well as a Birds Nest Cookies and they are delicious. Thanks for a great recipe, we loved them.
