Nutter Butter Ice Cream Cone Cookies

I love the simplicity of taking a store bought cookie and decorating it up for fun. Make sure to check out all the fun dipped cookies on Devour Dinner a sister site. So when I heard about these cookies I just had to try them and boy where they a hit!

I mean, how can you resist a cookie this cute? I sure can't and I likely indulged on a few more than I care to admit. But that is the fun of making such an adorable Ice Cream Cone Cookie shaped recipe.

    Ice cream theme cookies

This recipe is so quick and easy to make but I'll still share with you some tips and tricks below so you can make them easily.

    Shopping List

Nutter Butter Cookies, Family size preferably

White Almond Bark, Candy Coated Chocolate in a variety of colors, and Candy Sprinkles

    Ice Cream Cone Cookies

    How to melt Almond Bark

There are a variety of ways to melt almond bark or candy wafers. There is a microwave method, stove top method, or the Instant Pot method of melting chocolate. And they all work equally well. The difference comes in technique and ease.

How to melt Candy Wafers in the Microwave

Chop Almond bark into small pieces or shavings and place in a microwave safe bowl. Melt almond bark or candy wafers for 30 seconds and then give the bowl a good stir. Place back into the microwave for 30 more seconds and make sure to stir well.

If there are still pieces needing to melt, place almond bark back into microwave for an additional 15 seconds and then stir well. As you stir the larger pieces will melt. If additional time is needed repeat process until smooth.

How to melt Candy Wafers on the Stove or using an Instant Pot

Another way to melt Candy Wafers or Almond Bar is using a double boiler on the stove top or using the Instant Pot Electric Pressure Cooker. Place water in a sauce pan or in the liner of an Instant Pot over medium heat or on Saute. Allow the water to come to a boil.

Place a larger glass bowl on top of the sauce pan or Instant Pot. The heat from the boiling water will melt the almond bark or white chocolate inside of the bowl.

Stir almond bark until smooth. Be careful to not allow any liquid into the bowl or the melted almond bark can sieze.

How to make DIY Ice Cream Cone Cookies

Here comes the fun part and it's so quick and easy to make. Gather the chocolate coated candies and sprinkles.

Dip Nutter butter Cookies into White Chocolate

Dip half of a Nutter Butter cookie into the melted white chocolate and place on a parchment lined baking sheet. Add an M&M on top and sprinkle with your favorite sprinkles.

    Add M&M to melted chocolate

Allow chocolate to cool and harden before picking up off baking sheet.

How to Store Ice Cream Cone decorated Cookies

Once the white chocolate has set and hardened, lift Ice Cream Cone Treats off parchment paper. Cookies can be stored in a ZipLoc bag or sealed container.

    Suggestions

These Ice Cream Cone Cookies are super fun for a themed summer party or event. Changing the color of the M&M to any holiday or favorite color is ideal.

These would also be a darling treat for a Baby Shower using pink and blue M&M candies.
